Our approach.

A combination of passions, vivid imagination and a desire to create something unique. Craviations is an extension of our strengths as a team.

With over 50 years combined experience in aircraft structural repair, a passion for antiques and an eye for detail, we upcycle helicopter parts into furniture.

Our Mission.

To create a piece that makes a statement, reflects your passion and is as individual as you.

Meet the Team

Sophie

Sophie came to us as a rescue, she was nervous, a little scared and on her third home in less than a year.  The day we went to see her, she decided she was coming home with Mike.  That was 8 years ago, and she has been with us ever since.

Don’t be fooled by her size, she is a tough little girl, and she likes her frilly things too.  She loves her jewellery, a cozy blanket, and horses, but what little girl doesn’t want a horse.

Mike & Carolynn

Mike and Carolynn have been in the aviation industry for a combined +50 yrs, operating an aircraft structural repair company.  They have worked together building and repairing aircraft, and have had the opportunities to see the parts of the aircraft that most people don’t get the chance to see.

It was that knowledge of aircraft structures and a desire to create something unique that started Craviations.  They turned a Bell 206 airframe into a Bunkbed, and things grew from there.

“On a daily basis we see the beauty of the parts, we know their strength, it only seemed fitting that we use them to create one-of-a-kind Craviations”

Hugo

Hugo has been in aviation his whole life, he is a sweet gentle dog who will love you to pieces and give you every toy he owns, but don’t try to pet him!

He is a kisser and a chewer.  He will kiss you as long as you are willing to stand still and let him, and he will chew… everything.  He has chewed a door, the floor (yes, I said floor) and a chair.  He is 5 now, and hopefully he has made it through the chewing stage,.

Hugo loves to go to work, if Mike goes to the shop without him, he cries.  He reminds you to be young and playful, not a day goes by that he doesn’t make you smile.

a little more about us

Mike is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Structures, he has been in aviation his entire life, starting at the age of 14.  He has spent his life taking aircraft part, and fixing them according to the “books”.  The opportunity to throw the books away and create something totally unique was all the motivation he needed.

Carolynn has been in the aviation industry for 20+ yrs., working on the shop floor, as well as administrative.  Since starting their own repair facility, it’s been mainly administrative, dealing with regulatory bodies.  Being able to get back into the shop and work on a design is truly exciting.  Having been interested in design and architecture, building furniture using aircraft parts is an exciting new adventure.  One that gets her out of the office and “hands on” with the fun stuff.

and our designs

Each piece we design is made using a genuine aircraft part, which has previously been on an operating aircraft. Each of these parts will have a slight imperfection, which has forced them into retirement from aviation. We enhance these imperfections to give each design its own unique character. Just like the aircraft these parts have previously be on, no two designs will be the same, each design will have its own unique character. Each piece is its own unique Craviation.
